Question Squishy Transmission

When the Jeep starts up, and I run through the gears all the shifts are crisp and precise. Then, after it's driven around for a little while (maybe 30 or so miles) and the transmission heats up a bit, the shifting becomes squishy. I can't think of a better way to describe the feeling other than squishy every time it goes into or out of a gear.

Details:
2005 Wrangler Sport, stock gears, stock transfer case w/ SYE & Adjustable drive shaft. Transmission fluid changed 2000 miles ago.

Thoughts?

I forgot to mention that it's a 6-Speed Manual NSG370 Transmission, build code DEH.

What do you by squishy? Does it stay in place, harder to shift, harder to push into place? It could just be that the inner shift boot heats up and becomes looser, and thats what you are feeling? Have you checked the fluid level recently?

My transfer case and transmission start getting really hot and its sometimes harder to shift after 5-6 hours of driving.

It stays in place and isn't harder to shift. Perhaps squishy is the wrong term, more rubbery perhaps? Just checked the fluid level and color. The color is excellent and the fluid is full.

Same issue with my 2000. I guess mine is the NV3550.
