Starter issues?

Im on my 3rd starter in 6mounth any suggestion on what is killing them??
02 wrangler apex

are you also replacing the voltage regulator?

Starter and solenoid not regulator it seems like it works fine then is dead I'll take it out and put it back in and it work fine for a week is it a heat issues from the exhuast?

could be the wires coming off/going into he starter. I'd be safe and check all those wires if you haven't. that was the problem with mine

Checked all the wires up to the firewall all seem good my buddy suggested the grounding

whats it do when it fails, does it try at all? click? or just do nothing

I take it out and bang it on the ground and hope it works to get me home ! When it warms up out side I'm gonna heat wrap it and change the battery cables

It really does sound like a grounding issue to me more than a heat one.. the exhaust isn't going to overheat it when its not running.
I would replace the main cable that goes from the battery to the starter, even if it looks good chances are its corroded or somehow damaged in the middle somewhere. while your at it I would replace the main ground for the battery as well.

Just curious, who are you getting your rebuilt starters from. Some re builders are crap and some are not so bad. In my old truck I went through a bunch of starters until I had an auto electric shop rebuild my old one for me. Lasted ten years (thats when I traded it in on the Jeep). Now I always buy new or even rebuild it myself. Nothing like jumping in first thing in the morning, turn the key and.........Click. Very lonely sound.
