Starting idle issue

1997 2.5l,

Issue #1: I crank on the starter and it turns over and over, I stop and then crank and it fires right up. It does this all the time. I'm new to these engines, not sure what to check.

Issue #2: it has very slow throttle response, and when I punch it and let off quick it sounds like it is about to die. It never dies, but the idle falls very low.

The issues sound related, need some input.

As for the not wanting to start at first sounds like the check valves in the fuel system have gone bad and you are having to repressuurise the lines. There is one in the fuel pressure regulater (in the tank) and a sebond I think but don't remember where.
If it were me I'd let it be and remember to turn it over once to repressurised then fire it up. From my understanding you don't have to turn it over and over.
