Starting needs two tries

I thought I could live with it but it is getting tiring. I need to crank a few times, shut off then crank again to get the engine started. On the second time around it starts instantly. Is it a fuel pump issue?

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is bad.

yup fuel pressure regulator. rockauto.com has them pretty cheap.
