Steel Horse Ultra Top

Hi Folks,

Been lurking here for a bit, y'all have some great jeeps and are some of the nicest and most readable message board users I've ever seen.

I just bought a 1998 Sport and it came with a soft top. The hard top was on at the time of transfer and the owner gave me a user's manual for the soft top. From what I gather, it's a Steel Horse Ultra Top. Has anyone ever heard of them? Do they have a site where I can download a newer, less beat up manual?

Thanks!

So, for the sake of anyone searching for this stuff in the future. The brand is some sort of APC peer from Compton, CA. They went out of business years ago and were apparently shady at best.

Is there a central Jeep manual site? If so, does anyone think it would be worth scanning the manual I've got?

Yep Steelhorse was well known for producing cheap stuff, all of which was made in China that didn't hold up. That's why they went out of business. I think you'd be better off buying a used complete OE soft top including the mechanism that was on someones TJ which are commonly for sale in places like Craigslist, the For Sale forums in the various Jeep Forums, etc.

The OE mechanism is very good and it makes getting the top up or lowering it a much easier job... assuming your Steelhorse top is sitting on top of a Steelhorse top frame which is more like an Erector Set.
