Steel vs. Aluminum wheels

In the pics section of this forum I raised the topic of me painting my aluminum rims black, so I photoshopped it to see the comparison... (Post #10)

Any photoshop JEEP pictures

Figured since this is the tech section I may get more response here. What I'm wondering is how much of a weight difference is there when comparing steel and aluminum rims and would it make a significant difference in my power since I'm already pushing 33s with my non-regeared 4cyl. My wife is ready to help me paint these aluminum rims black but if the weight difference isn't a huge issue I may do what was suggested in the above thread, which is to sell them and buy some steelies.

Weight difference will not be enough to matter, save your money and put it into something else on the Jeep. Have fun spraying the rims and remember to take the time to prep them properly.

There is a difference in weight, but the tires are the heaviest part of the combo.... If they're nice aluminum wheels, in good shape, you might consider selling them and picking up some in not so good shape, or even black steelies.... Once you paint them it'll be heck to pay to return them to original condition....

I have aluminum and am going to get them powder coated black. Powder coating is pretty cheap here in Tx. Black wheels on a Jeep just look to cool . Plus I live by the beach and think steel wheel will rust to easily.
