Have a 99 Wrangler (just bought), 4" lift with wheels & tires from a 08 model, have the spacers for the wheels to fit.
The jeep was wandering all over the road like a carnival ride, found that the steering shaft was all the way down against the steering gearbox. Pulled the shaft off and reinstalled so shaft and splines lined up tightened down and all was better, (little slop, think it is gearbox) the shaft has now slipped back down back past the splines and is wandering again. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it??
Have the death wobble at 50mph,(didn’t have until installed these tires and spacers) had tires balanced, replaced the stabilizer shock, and the track bar, installed a better bolt on track bar also to minimize any slop. Ball joints and everything else looks good but I am wondering if the control arm bushings need to be replaced when the steering is turned I can see the axle move some??
Any help on with these problems would greatly be appreciated.
