Steering stabilizer mount help

Simple question really but. Steering stabilizer wise. I always thought it needed, or is best used, when mounted to tie rod. Mine is on the drag link (pitman arm to knuckle). Does it still apply same dampening there. Where would be best for it being mounted. I can easily make bracket and mount to spring plate. I think stock does mount that way right? I have 4" lift and teraflex high knuckle kit.
