Stereo Question

Hey guys, so I installed an CDX-GT260MP (sony) stereo unit in my jeep about 8 months ago, but i never took out the safety bolt/bracket in the back from the original unit, so the new unit sticks out about 1/2" from the console. Anybody have a similar problem??

Also, all my speakers but 1 are blown out and I'd like to replace them all. Anyone do this recently to their own tj? I have searched the forums quite a bit on the subject, but still not sure. Thanks

I believe the security bracket only has two bolts holding it in place. Take that out and your spacing problem should be resolved.

Yep, I replaced all mine, twice. First, I blew the front set, and then I upgraded to a better set all around. I would go with the Nalin adapter for the front speakers. The 4x6 standard is just too small, and 4" front speakers are worse.

The Nalin Adapter allows you to put 5.25 speakers all around for much better balanced sound. I used it and I am happier than a pig in...you get the idea. LMAO

I would get speakers that can handle your stereo RMS of 52wattsx4. You want at least a 60watt, maybe 55watt RMS speakers. I went with the California made CDT based on audio store recommendation that had many manufacturers. They have versions of 60watts and 110 watts, for about $100/pair. Great speakers. They replaced my blown Infinity Kappa's. The CDT's are clear and crisp because they come with a separate cross-over module for the highs.

I had to get the 110 watt version because my amp is pushing 100 watts RMS per channel, not including the 500watt sub channel.

These are the guys that I purchased my speakers from. I got my EQ, Power Acoustik Gothic 1500 watt amp, 10" sub-woofer loaded MTX Thunderform, and my speakers from them. I already had my head unit. They are a short drive away from you and very friendly. You can purchase and pickup right there at the warehouse. You can order online too, but I was impatient and they are so close. But, use your own installer. The guy they sent me to did a really sloppy job.
But, they were great and replaced his mistakes without question.
