stick versus automatic resale value$

I'm looking for a TJ.

Should I buy the 4 cyl or 6 cyl?

If I buy the 4 cyl, then it will be a standard

If I buy the 6 cyl should I buy automatic?

My personal preference is the 6 cyl auto, but what about resale value? Is there a demand for an automatic in a jeep.

PS I don't intend on doing any serious off road trips. Just skiing and dirt roads. is offline   Quote

If it has higher resale value, you'll pay more for it now and get it back when you sell.
If it has lower resale value, you'll save money now, but have to sell it for less.

Either way, it's a wash.

I know with CJ's that automatics are rarer and more valuable. Not sure about TJs.

And yes, there is a demand for auto's - even with serious off roaders (not trying to start that debate again!). If that's what you want go for it!

The finer points of 4 vs 6, stick vs auto are debated fairly frequently around here. Feel free to join in. I don't think anyone's been declared the winner yet.

Jeeps hold value no matter what it is! Unless you total it or something... Your price will mainly vary by location and what accessories it has! I have seen 2006's go for less than some 2000's ... You just have to do a good inspection before buying!
