What are you all running for tires?
I have Cooper Discoverer HT's 225/75R15
Jeep came with Goodyear 225's
According to the X specs they should be 21575R15's on it.
I know my speedo is off slightly, reads fast, I'm not looking for larger tires, in fact may down size to 225/70R15 Cooper Discoverer AT3 for a better trail tire.
Any thoughts? Stock Jeepers that off road some.
As I can't justify, lifting, gear swaps etc. at this time
thanks,
Pete
I don't see any reason to go down in tire size, especially such a small amount (I don't understand metric tire sizes, so I actually don't know how much smaller those tires would be). If you have bigger tires than stock, the speedo should be reading slow. If that's why you want to downsize, just get the correct speedo gear. Cheap and easy.
I quickly put 31s on mine after buying it. They will fit on the stock suspension.
This is correct. My Jeep is a daily driver with off roading put off at the moment, and I runn 33's. My speedo is about 2-3 miles slower than what I'm actually going.
Plug your tire size in here. This is generic, but it's not far off for mine. I have a 98 2.5L SE. It came with 205/75/15 on it. I'm running 215/75/15 now. My speedo is pretty accurate according to radar signs I pass. I think most Wranglers had a gear on the speedo for 225/75/15, as with the stock tires everyone was passing me on the freeway, now they don't. https://www.lesschwab.com/tires/tire-size-calculator
Does that Cooper tire even come in that size?
I wouldn't rely that much on my GPS accuracy. People in my bicycle club that use a GPS are usually off a bit in total mileage for a ride compared to the people that set up their bicycle computers according to their tire circumference after a measured roll-out of the tire.
I also daily my jeep so it's pretty stock for now, I run 28" BFG A/T for now, and I think ill bump up to 30" once these tires are done. I had a post wondering how big I could go with stock suspension and still being able to.keep up on the highway with my 2.4L 6 speed. It seems like people dont start to notice a significant slowing down until the 31"
I should also note that I have the stock 3.73 gears
It's a JK but I'm a stock Jeeper. I replaced the stock 29'' tires with bigger/better tires. I'm running Duratracs 265/75/16 which is 31.6x10
Speedometer is a bit slow but I'm used to it and love these tires. They have the snow flake logo which makes them legal year round in provinces that enforce ''winter'' tires. They perform great in snow and ice.
Edit: 3.73 and auto tranny
Cheers
