stripped threads on lower control arm?

driving to work the other night I noticed the drivers side rear squatted hard on acceleration and almost put me into oncoming traffic getting on the freeway.I thought for sure I was going to die, but was able to keep it under control and get it over on the side of the freeway to check it out. I was expecting to see something obvious, but couldnt find nothing wrong.I finished driving to work(very slow) without anymore problems and also made the trip back home. when I got it in the shop and gave it a real good inspection, I noticed the drivers side lower adjustable control arm was about 3 inches longer than the other side and very loose.I unbolted it and it literally fell apart. Has any one ever seen this before? it had plenty of grease in it and the brackets all checked out and the other side is fine. the threads inside appear to be worn out so it cant stay adjusted. (sorry for the long story).
