Stuck CD

Just bought another Jeep, 2004 Columbia, and the CD player has a stuck CD in it that will not eject. It plays fine but can't eject. Any fix or is this a replacement deal?

Try sliding a piece of card paper (like a playing card, ad from junk mail, poster board... Any slick but fairly rigid paper) into the cd player under the cd while you hit eject.

Or disconnect your battery for a few minutes, then reconnect it and try the eject button again.

Battery disconnect worked on my Sony.
Others, I've used a paper clip and pushed it in the tiny hole to eject.

Some variation of this method has worked well too:
4 Ways to Remove a Stuck CD from a Car CD Player - wikiHow

Specifically the holding power+eject for 5+sec and the tape handle to cd and lift/pull during eject. The latter was more for fun.

My 2004 jeep stock stereo would not eject the CD, I held the eject button while turning on the jeep and it came right out. Then I replaced the stereo.

The one time I had a stuck CD, a sharp bang with my fist on the top of the dash was effective. (05 LJ)

Tried all of the above and no luck. Fortunately I just removed a great stereo system from an airplane today that the owner let me have. The stock radio is pretty horrible.

I don't know why there hasn't been a bigger push for SS head units. With the space available from the hole a CD player leaves you could easily fit a 2TB drive into a head unit. No skipping, no scratched cd's, no cd cases. Just nice reliable tunes.

Ya got to remember not everyone is tech savvy I guess and vehicle manufactures/designers don't always think practical... 2TB of music would be insane but then random is a great feature hehehehe

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm............SS unit.............not a bad idea. Just pulled the stereo out and there is a huge amount of space as you all noted before. Now the fun begins.

If you want to get crafty.. My S2000 and Silverado both had head units with rear USB ports. I ran a cable behind the dash and under the carpet. The S2K i brought the cable out under the arm rest on the trans tunnel next to the seat and let it dangle for easy access to the thumb drive. I ran the cable in the Silverado through an existing hole inside the center console and plugged it in there. The only reason I haven't done it on my TJ is it has a front facing USB port so I just stream Slacker radio on my iphone.

I put in a sony in my 2002 a while back and it had a usb in front, I hook up the old ipod to it and it works great. Some manfacturers are putting usb in stock now, our F-150 has one with the sync system, kind of handy. Do they put USB radios in the JK's? Only curious because I may have to upgrade to a 4 door at some point.

Bring back 8 track...

I've had the same CD in the CD player for over 2 years.
I'll be looking at some of the hints posted here to get it out

Different radio. But my dads 02 f250 had a 6 disk changer that used to stick cd's. A little slap of the dash on top of it always made it spit the cd out.

I am going to be sending the radio I got from the airplane to my friends electronics shop as he said his guys could add a USB port to the radio and will hook up a 1 TB drive for the music and or videos that will be accessed through the current screen. They have very small 1 TB external drives that can run off the power from the radio. Will let you all know how it works, if it does, and post pics. If they tell me how it's done and can provide schematics then I will post those as well.
