stumbled upon a hp d30... what to do

im talking to a guy that lives close to me that wants to sell his dana 30 from his xj cheap. it had been in an accident and the mounts are tweaked apparently. i dont know the the housing is bad yet. he said if he cant part it out or sell it, that hes going to bring it to the junkyard to sell. so here are my questions. 1. should i even bother with this axle? obviously im not going to buy it unless it has 3.73 or 4.10s. 2. what should i offer? the nearest junkyard is an hour away, so the gas would probably be more than what its worth.
in regards to the the bent mounts; im going to cut off all of the mounts and weld on 1/4 in ones soon. this will be a project axle.

hard to find 4.10 or 3.73 HP30s. most are lower ratio unless it came from an olympic edition xj or possibly one other odd model.
