Stupid license plate question

Folks---how the heck do u install front plate on 2000 TJ sport? bumber has 2 holes that don't line up with NY plate. bought a plastic plate holder and you cant get inside bumber to hold the lock washer and nut!!!

The rear plate in order to avoid the rear door , the plate has to stick out 2 inches from body.
Maybe im going nuts but putting the front plate on may be the hardest job fixing the jeep! how do u get inside the bumper for putting on nuts?
on rear do u bend plate around outside corner of jeep. ugh Thanks

The front bumper is supposed to have two pop in plastic clips in the holes that will accept about #14 hex head license plate screws. See the dealer or you can probably get them at Ace hardware, or maybe at the auto parts stores.

Lowe's and home depot have the nylon license plate plugs in the automotive draws in the hardware section. Picked up a few just recently

x2 on the plastic plate nuts for the front.

If you don't have the bracket for the rear then yes you'll have to bend it around the tub.

Cliff, Do you have a winch with a roller fairlead? Maglight D-cell flashlight clips fit perfectly on a roller fairlead. When I got rid of the stock bumper I just bolted the plate to the flashlight clips because the new bumper did not have license plate provisions.

Just an idea for now, or later if you upgrade.

So a NY plate wouldn't line up but another state plate would. They are all the same.
So when I buy my next jeep from say Detroit Michigan, and I live in NY I shouldn't buy it because my NY plate won't fit. COME ON!

how i did my old tj (same plans for new tj just havnt done it yet), have to drill holes in the license plate or the tub for this to work .... and then take some door edge trim ($8-10 at walmart) and use it to create a rujbber frame that wont scratch the jeeps body

no they are all the same .... i think he is missing his rear plate bracket .... and a license mount being messed up is about the silliest reason not to buy a jeep lol
