subs?

So I was just given a box for a 10 and I've been trying to figure where I could put a 10 along with an amp in my jeep anyone have any suggestions?

Some people have made a box that fits under the rear seat, but it involves modifying the seat.

However I believe this requires a slim mount sub, which you would have to check if that's what you have.

I know that this will likely not help, but big whoop, wanna fight about it? I have the sub in the console and it works fine for my taste. I've often thought about people that have a "real" sub (i.e. 10 or 12 in) in the Jeep due to vibrations. The Jeep shakes, rattles and rolls enough without additional vibration. Wouldn't the sub with enough power make things vibrate so much that it would kill the sound anyway? Just a thought.

Put it behind the back seat or take the back seat out.

Used to have 2 12s and an 1100 watt amp...had to take the back seat out to make room. eventually put them in another vehicle so they wouldn't be so easy to steal.

Jeeps are made for off-road, subs are made for jungle music that bumps and thumps and makes a lot of noise. It's like putting an elevator in an outhouse, they don't mix. My opinion: leave the sub out and drop it into an urban vehicle.

I have a 10 inch sub in my console that bumps. Nothing too obnoxious, and its stealth. Only downside is the loss of my console but I don't care

I have two tens behind the seat and my amp under the back seat. Fits perfect. And don't listen to the rest of these guys hating on sound systems in jeeps...I know when I ride with my top down my music doesn't sound like a couple blown tweeters.

Roflmao :-)))))). Yeah when I was younger I had a two door accord with 8 12's in a wall in the back seat..... Man that thing pounded. I would pull up behind people and the person in front me would have to keep adjusting their rear view mirror. I have had people run outta their houses yelling at me and chasing me down the street. True story. I loved the day I knocked a picture of the wall with my car in the driveway. My girlfriends mom didn't like it though.....

Did you make it yourself or is it a pre made console? I've seen them with 8's but I didn't think there was enough room for a 10 in the center console. Do you have pics of it?

It was two seperate boxes. Each box had 4 12's. I had to remove the side windows in back to put them in. I didnt put them in through the windows, It just alowed more room to maneauver it through the pillars where the front seatbelts are attached. This is the car.... I have to dig through some stuff to find the pics of the 12's.

You can put a ten or twelve behind the back seat just fine. I have had both back there before and now I have a ported twelve in the back with the amp under the back seat. The woofer in the console wasn't enough for me, really it was a joke. Being a musician I needed good and clear sound wherever I went. See if your box fits first, then if not, you will have to take the back seat out. If you keep the back seat in, it will need to be a shallow mount sub, which is just a capable. I hope this helps!!

That sounds borderline insane, how many watts did you have powering it?

Like they said behind/under the rear seat, in center console, or remove the rear seat. I dont even own a rear seat so this was an easy choice for me

or you could fit some shallow mount 6.5s in your speaker bar and amp them and your front speakers aftermarket, but I dont think they would hit quite as hard as your want.... save space though. They actually make boxers for behind the rear tj seat, you can see them on ebay and several other places. Its easy to steal the dimensions and make one or measure for your own, and building a box isnt too difficult if you read up first. Either way good luck! I just blew my 12in kicker L7 and took my sub box and undid all my wiring stuff today... felt like a funeral

In my opinion, you're ridiculous? I think the best thing about jeeps is the fact that you can make your jeep what you want it to be and you don't have to listen to some dude preach about "jungle music that bumps and thumps." Who are you, Dr. Seuss?!

Obviously you're not an audiophile...

Up until recently, I listened to NO rap/hip-hop (aka "jungle music"). I was about 80% hard rock/heavy metal and 20% country...yes, even rock, metal, and especially country sound amazing with subs hitting those low frequencies that were recorded in the studio but can't be delivered by your midrange speakers. I couldn't stand my factory sound system because I couldn't hear the full sound spectrum out of my midrange speakers. They just distorted.

So I bought 2 10" subs and a set of component speakers along with an amp and installed them in my truck which was far from an "urban vehicle"...my subs were tuned to only deliver the super low frequencies, my mids delivered the mid range frequencies, and the tweeters delivered the high frequencies. After that I swore I'd never own another vehicle without putting subs in it simply because you CANNOT hear music the way it was actually intended to be played without good speakers. I intend to put subs in my Jeep eventually, but I want to do a tasteful install and figure out a way to make them extremely difficult to steal even with the top off.

IMO... a downfiring box, coated with truck bedliner or something waterproof with an amp mounted underneath (keeping them off the floor so if caught in the rain) bolted through the floor...preferably with some kind of security bolts that make it a little more difficult to steal (ie utilize some of those giant Torx bolts)...is the best setup for subs in a Jeep. That will keep them secure, somewhat stealthy, and out of the elements.

Exactly what is normal anyway? I have caught a lot of crap for my chrome but I defend myself and tell them I have TWO jeeps and they are exactly the way I want them. I can take one out when its time to get dirty and the other stays nice and shiny.

Cars are rolling by my house all hours booming and it's finally starting to get on my nerves. Just last night I was awakened at 3am. Maybe I'm becoming an old fart but remember, not everybody wants to hear your favorite jam booming & distorted to no end so at least show some common courtesy when rolling through neighborhoods.

But back on topic, I would put them behind the rear seat, maybe concealed in an instatrunk.

So, I'm missing it I guess. Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? Because I'm pretty sure my point wasn't that no one disagrees in the jeep family, my point was that the tool up on his soap box earlier telling everyone that subwoofers don't belong in jeeps because they're "offroad" vehicles isn't any more qualified than any other individual on this site to make calls for anyone else. I offroad in my jeep and I have a big nasty LS7 bolted to my floorboards behind the rear seat. He offroads without one. That's cool with me! Don't post on a thread entitled "subs" if you think they're such an affront to the jeep gods!

I think normal is supposedly a blacked out jeep with big tires a lift and it cant have any chrome "useless lighting" such as underglow (which i REALLY LIKE and apperently it cant rock out to some sweet bass!

Btw personally i love chrome, haha
