Suggestions on upgrades

I would like to get some feedback from some of you more experienced wheelers out there. I was wondering if some of you would help me with a list of beginner upgrades I could do to my wrangler on a limited budget. This will be my daily driver with some weekend off-roading. I have an 05 wrangler x.

i have an '05 x as well. i have a 2" budget boost, 31" a/t tires, sway bar quick discos, smittybuilt front & rear bumper. i don't have lockers in the tj b/c it's not my primary trail rig, but i would also recommend some lockers. i have the powertrax lock right in my cj7.

If I were to do it all over again I would start with Armor. Steering Box Skid, Gas Tank Skid, Engine Skid, etc.....

x2. Although one thing to keep in mind, if you go this route, is to decide what type of suspension you're getting because that affects which skid plates you get.

yeah I have the 2" bb in my garage now, and 31" a/t's to be delivered on thursday. I think I wasted my money on the lift, b/c i bought it from an individual and it's for a manual trans. only. So back to the drawing board on that one. Now I either have to find a way to make it work or try and sell it and buy another one. I am getting antsey and don't want to go through the hassle.

With a budget boost it doesn't matter what transmission you have.

That's what I thought too, but the directions said will not work for my year with an automatic trans. The company said it could be done if you shim the crossmember.

A TJ budget boost usually consists of four coil spring spacers and maybe some longer rear bump stops. (see below) You should also add some longer shocks, but they are not required. I'm not sure what you have, but it doesn't sound to me like a budget boost kit. Could you post a picture of what you have? It would help us give you better information.

That is a very expensive budget boost. What they must be talking about not working with your trans is the transfer case drop. You may not need it. If you have a drive line vibration, you can lower the TX case by using a few washers instead of what ever spacers you got with the kit.

Ok, I just checked my email and had another one from the company. They said that it puts strain on the shifter linkage, thats why it is only sold for standards

I don't know what to tell you, but what they are saying doesn't make sense. I've never done a TC drop on a manual trans so I can't speak from experience. However, I've seen dozens of manual trans Jeeps with TC drops, so I know it's possible. Perhaps someone who has done one will chime in on this.

Yeah, they are just trying to get around any liability issues. All of the parts you have will work fine on your jeep. Put the spacers in first and then drive it around especially at highway speeds. If you feel driveline vibrations then go back and put the TCase drop in.

You WILL need an alignment when adding any height to the suspension.

No. But make sure the tire shop does a good balance job on the wheels and tires when you have them mounted. If you wheel your rig it is a good idea to get the lifetime balance package.

Rocks like to take small pieces out of your tires and came make them unbalanced.

No. You aren't changing the relationship of your drag link an pitman arm. So there is no reason your toe would change.
