suggestions/recommendations for D-ring shackles

well, the jeep i purchased has a place on the front bumper where you could hook up a tow bar. i like having that option, so i'm keeping them there. but i also wanted to have d-ring shackles up front (just in case). but what i've found is that d-ring shackles will not fit into the brackets for the tow bar. i did see some sort of military shackle on ebay, but i wasn't sure if that was my only option.

i've included a picture of my jeep & you can see the hook up for the tow bar.

does anyone know of a shackle that i could use that would fit either in between the tabs for the tow bar or around it? i have to get exact measurements, but i think it would have to be at least a 2.5-3 inch opening to fit around them.

Get rid of them. Get some regular d ring brackets. And buy the tow bar adapter from metalcloaks website. Thats wat i plan to do.

you guys think it would be pointless (or stupid) to have d ring brackets welded onto the bumper next to the tow bar brackets?

Yes. pointless. itll look stupid. Keep it clean. Some bumpers have the d rings spaced the right distance apart and sell the tow bars too. See if u can have d rings put in the correct place and find a bar.

Here is what I have on my YJ. I am running the tow shackles and when I do not have the tow bar hooked up I took a pair of hooks off the front of a 4x4 99 up silverado. They are not D rings but may fit in the bracket on your bumper. If you like I can take a picture of them. I have several at the shop if you would like some

rykemc, PM sent.

i think i'm just going to do the tow hooks up front. that will be the most cost effective & safest.

I have the same setup but the PO had tow bar attach points welded to bumper. I have not been able to find a d-ring or shackle to fit the bracket either.
