Talking Summer Topsss : )

So guys warm weather is coming soon and Im thinking NOT to buy a soft top but get the duster cover with the back seat out and blocked off...I dont wanna spend the money for a soft top when its pointless too..I just need something so I can throw my surf board in and get to the beach ..Does anybody else have this on their jeep? Pictures? Advice? Input?

ive seen one in person .. its looks great only draw back is that the cover for the back of the jeep fills up with water and stretches out the fabric. so something would need to be propped underneith to keep it from filling up

Ok first no hot guys would not help LOL

I would run no top but sometimes it rains for a few days and it is my daily driver right now

There must be someway for it not to fill up with water but maybe i would just have to keep clearing it away

maybe at the edges you can make some small holes. This way the water could go somewhere. But that mean your rear seat would get wet. I don't run a rear seat anymore so I don't care bout what gets wet.

The sound bar if you have the actual bar not the pods can be flipped to the the other side so that it is enclosed in the top. Correct me if Im wrong.

Yeah i moved my sound bar up front but then had to move it back due to a weld in cage. But you are right. You can move the sound bar up front. I'm not sure how it would work if you had door surrounds in though.

I run a bikini top in the summer, since I have the hardtop and no soft top. When I park it overnight, or when it looks like it might rain, I have a trail cover that I throw over it. It is 100% waterproof and covers the windshield, completely covers the door openings, and attaches around the tub where the soft top attaches....at the rails. It takes about 2 minutes tops to install, and about 30 seconds to take off. It's been a Godsend. This setup lets me store the hardtop in the nicer months and run the bikini. Both the bikini and the trailcover are made by Bestop. Here's a pic of the Jeep with the bikini, but I can't find one with the trailcover on it. Maybe I'll see if I can find a link to one online......

Here's a pic of the TrailCover from Bestop. I got mine from Amazon for less than $150. Money well spent.

I got the summer top combo from quadratec, which included the bikini top, duster cover and windjammer divider. The only problem I run into is water collects on the duster but that is easily solvable, Im just too lazy to do it. Also, whatever is on the duster cover, water or snow or whatever, tends to blow back into the jeep from back to front which makes the inside of my windshield INCREDIBLY dirty. Finally, the duster cover doesnt fit quite right over the back so it doesn't seal where the tailgate is buts its not that major. I would get the SAFARI cover if I was to do it again

The first picture is with a bikini top, windjammer and duster cover from Bestop which is how I run the jeep in the early spring....it's cold in PA.
Some water will get in through the windjammer when parked in the rain, but my tub is Herculined and I just pull the drain plugs out.

The second picture is how I run the Jeep during late Spring, Summer and Fall....just the duster with no rear seat, minus the Kayaks.

Water will build up on the duster, but it rolls right off when you drive. The duster will not stay stretched out after it dries....at least my Bestop one doesn't.

don't have pics of my jeep here at work but found one on q-tec that looks like what i have. i run this set up all summer long, except instead of the bestop windjammer i use a vdp wind stopper. i love it. easy to put up or take off, and it stores easily underneath the duster cover whether you have the backseat out or not. you will get a little bit of water inside the cab during a heavy rain (comes in where the door surrounds are) but nothing bad. just keep a towel or something in the jeep so if you come back to a wet seat you have something dry to sit on.

they make a "bow" that holds the fabric up a bit so water just sheds off.

I run that setup in the summer also. bikini top and a tonneau cover over the back seat area. my bikini top does not cover the sound bar and its been fine even during rain. Only problem I have is between the bikini top and my full doors there's a gap that allows some water to get in...other than that its great! I'll have to see if I can find pics of mine.
