First, when assembly the rear bow, neither of the holes lined up. One was to far down, the other to far up. I ended up using the self tap screws to make my own holes.
Secondly, I had to remove he seat belts to be able to remove he old brackets. That wasn't a big deal except that I wasn't expecting that. the big deal is that after mount the new brackets to the roll bar, the foam surround will no longer zip up.
I had to quit for the day and go to work. I've gotten pretty frustrated so far
This morning I made more progress. The bow assembly is on, and ready for the fabric. I have one current issues. Can someone please give me advice?
Following the directions I have the back two corners connected, and I am to then latch the front. I try with all of my might, but cant get it to latch. I was able to heat the garage up to 70 degrees, but doesn't look like it will get much higher. I am trying the technigue of pushing the handle all the way up, to make the hook come down.
I'll be going back to the garage in a few, so I would really appreciate the advice.
The back corners should not be attached before hooking the latches into the windshield. Hook the latches into their slots in the windshield frame but don't close the latch. Then insert the rear corners, then latch the front shut. You'll never get the front connected to the windshield if you install the rear corners first.
x2; Closing the latch on the front is the last thing I do. In order:
1. Put top in the "up" position
2. Place latches in windshield frame (don't close latches)
3. Hook back corner flaps
4. Unroll and hook in rear window bar
5. Zip rear window
5. Insert side windows and zip closed
6. Snap in pieces above driver and passenger door
7. Close latch
On my top, it just gets too tight to do any of the other steps if I close the latches at all before the end.
I would agree on the directions; when you buy the most expensive top on the market you would expect better directions than a few copied pages. I watched the online video a few times to help with the questions I had. I had the same issues with the brackets and the seat belts, in fact now that I rember I still have to try to get one of the pads zipped back up.
70 degrees is still pretty cool. It was closer to 90 when I put mine together, and it was still tough. I think you will have a tough time with the windows when you get to that point.
Once you finally get it all together, it is a great top though. Nice and tight and quiet. Very easy to take down, but a little harder to put back up, especially if you don't have 2 people.
Thanks for the tips so far! I'm at the point to where I'm inserting the side windows. The driver side wasnt too bad at all, but the passenger side is a real PITA. I can get the zipper started, but there is not enough slack to get remotely close to wrapping plastic lipts around the slots in the door surrounds? I'm going back out there right now to keep trying. Once Again, i can only get the garage up to 70, as its barely 50 outside
Update: After putting in my full body wieght, 121lbseek, I was able to get the window on properly. Now im struggling with the folds that go over the top of the doors. 3 of 4 are finished, the last is a tuffy.
