Found a good deal on this winch locally, 279.99. I know it isn't a Warn which seems to be the standard for most people on this forum, but I am not running the trails in Moab nor do I plan to with this rig as it is my DD. I am looking to get a winch for piece of mind in the winter and when I am out hunting back in the woods. Let me know if you run one of these and how it has held up.
I can't really help you as I use a Warn 5 tons and a Taiwanese made brand that doesn't have a name But from the reviews I read in doing a 1 minute search on Google, nobody speaks highly of them.
Sorry, the best I can do for u
Superwinch are pretty well rated. I don't know about this particular winch but I imagine it was made to compete against the warn m8000, which sells for about $550 - $750. I see that on the superwinch site that its MSRP is about $650. So $279 sounds like a very good deal. Most winches under $300 are weak and some are made using perm magnet motors which do not last long at all. But this one is a 4.5hp series wound motor. From what I read it looks good.
Test it out and give a review once you get it installed
Superwinch is not a Warn, but then a new Warn is not the same as a Warn of old days gone either. Everything changes over time, not always for the better.
Some folks like and swear about their Mile Marker, Ramsey, or Smittybilt. Then again some folks just plain swear at their winch of choice.
As for the winch you are looking at, thats a pretty good buy. It is cheaper than a Harbor Freight 8K winch on sale. Less expensive than a large number of import no name 8K winches on the market.
Two things going for you, one is Superwinch is a brand name with a history. Two, is that if you are purchasing it local, you have a first hand level of customer service to stand behind the winch should there be a problem.
I would go ahead and jump on it.
My brother-inlaw just put that same superwinch on his wrangler and he loves it used it on a recent trip out west and he said NO PROBLEMS pulling himself up or out at all. I am looking at getting one as well $299.99 here.
I have the SuperWinch Epi9.0 and it has performed flawlessly in the last 12 months. I removed a Warn to install the SuperWinch and I have never regretted it. I believe it is nearly as fast as my old 9.5ti and each time I needed the SuperWinch it worked. It has never left me stranded unlike my Warn did.
The only reason I bought a SuperWinch was because 5 guys in my Jeep club run this exact winch. They have all been very happy with how it performs. I got mine off Amazon for $489 shipped last year.
Went to get one today.....sold out....salesman said they were getting another shipment in on Tuesday. He asked me what i drove, i told him a 2003 TJ, he said he would honor the sale price because he was a fellow TJ owner. Who says customer service isn't what it used to be! I will post pics and do a review once I have a chance to use it. Thanks for the help and comments everyone.
