Thumbs down Swiped out from under me

Test drove an immaculate '01 Sahara this past Monday, Black with a black hardtop, I6 manual, all that fun stuff. only 82,xxx miles on it. Was going back on Friday to pick it up and here it was sold before I could purchase it . I guess it's back to the drawing board, there are no nice TJ's in the orlando area with the I6, and manual tranny with under 100,000 miles.

I'm thinking $11K is my ceiling, I may be able to budge but only slightly.

I'm honestly surprised, I've been searching for a long time for one that fits my criteria to show up and that '01 Sahara was the first one that did. I just couldn't pull the trigger fast enough.

X2..Huge difference IMO. I spent 3 frustrating months looking for the right TJ, either they were already gone by the time I got to the persons house (I'm talking less that an hour) or they were misrepresented (pieces of junk). Finally my wife spotted an ad at 7:00pm one evening that had just been posted. I asked the guy if I could come see it now, he said "why don't you wait till tomorrow". I didn't want to lose out again so I went and checked it out that night with spotlights and flashlights. It was exactly what I wanted, clean, unmodified, never been off road, guy was the original owner in his upper 50's. He even had the original window sticker and a stack of maintenance receipts and because I had cash he dropped his price $800.00 to exactly what I was hoping to pay. Had those other ones not been sold out from under me I wouldn't have found this one!
Sorry for rambling, my point is you will eventually find what you looking for, don't settle for junk. Hold out for what you want if you can.

That, my Friend, is how you jump on a good deal when you see it.

I saw the ad for my current Jeep at about 10:00 pm on night and called the guy immediately. I made arrangments to go seee it in 2 days (it was 3.5 hours away). The next morning I thought about it some more and called him back to let him know I was on my way.
I ended up with a 2005 LJ Rubicon, fully loaded in need of a clutch and a few cosmetic repairs for $8,000.00. It's a $14,000.00 plus rig in these parts.
No brainer for me.

I had been shopping for a Jeep for almost 3 months, i have a truck so i passed on a lot of junk off craigs, had one guy that was gonna sell a 97 tj for $5500, i live out in the country and its a good 40 miles one way to work, guy says, " come on over," 20 minutes into the drive over he texts me, "sold sorry," what a dousche. The next one i find that looks like a winner was a 95 with a hard top and ac for 4800, i figure its probably a bit rough but what the hay, drive 50 miles to New Braunfels to see it and its a def no. Theres an awesome 98 in Boerne, 50 miles from where the wife & i are and another 65 miles from home. Wife says lets go its only gas, I love this woman something serious, we drive out to bfe and its just gorgeous. Lifted, wheels, ac, tons of new parts and service records for everything. They took good care of it and could prove it. They wanted 6500 for it and took it home for 5800. So thats how i got my Jeep, first Jeep ever, had her for 3 days now. ( wiping tear away) lol

I had the same problem back in 04 when it was time to replace my YJ DD. Decided to bite the bullet and order a brandy smack new one. Was able to get a special deal through the manufacturer and paid 18k out the door.
