Tail Gate rattles after a year with a 33"

Was anyone else as dumb as me and put a 33 mounted on a steel 15x10 on a stock tail gate?

At this point it rattles. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it fixable? Will I need a new tailgate?

I finally broke down and bought these, haven't installed them yet. Will the rattle go away once the tire is on the bumper carrier?

if the tailgate rubber is shot, you could replace it..if the latch is loose you can tighten it up

I haven't looked at it too closely yet, but at a quick glance it looks almost bent/twisted. I guess this could be the latch being loose.

Also anyone ever installed these bumpers? How hard is it?

sure will. I've read they're pretty solid and I know they're going to look bad ass on my TJ:

I've had a 15x12.5 for 5 years. Did you modify the rubber snubbers as required so they are tight on the tire?

For mine, the rubber bumpers that support the tire against the body were too short. I stacked a couple hockey pucks with long screws through them. It doesnt move. No rattles after close to 2 years and 50 k miles.

Love this honesty! Sometimes ya just have to laugh it off, live and learn. Good luck either tightening/adjusting what you have or replacing all together.

Well I have deduced that someone in a van or a truck must have hit my spare tire, because my tailgate is bent inward on the right side causing it to not fit flush and left side and thus rattle. Why the hell are new tailgates some damn expensive!! They're like $300.
