Take apart the dash??

How do I open up the dashboard in my TJ? I need to fix my cigarette lighter outlet (which fell inside the dash)...and pull it back out and glue it or something..Thanks!

You need to pop the defrost panel off first. It just pulls up. You may need a screw driver to pry a corner up b.,but it just snaps in. Then there are two screws on the top of the center bezel and one behind the ash tray. After removing the screws pull straight out on the bezel there will be four more screws on the switch panel the outlet is in. Take them out and you're home free. I would go to the dealership and get a new outlet they aren't much money and it is a sure fix!

If I remember correctly, the top vent piece just pops off. From there there's a couple of screws at the top and a single screw behind the ashtray. Then the entire center console can come out. It'll take some pulling and jiggling but after it pops free you'll be amazed at how quick you'll be able to get it out the next time.

Here's a thread showing the first part.

Just took off the dash and pulled the outlet back through the little hole. Since the ring that goes around the outside is broken, I just super glued around the outlet on the inside, then I plastered it with bonodo over the glue. It is drying right now and hopefully it will hold up.
