You sent on a silly mission, I should have known already mine were tiny (if I was looking at the right thing). And it's raining outside, washing off all my hard work. I'll get some bigger ones later too I guess.

So again... 33s? Would they look silly with a 5.5in lift?

No it won't look silly. Not really.

Seriously though. You did the right thing by calling Joe. The guy knows his shit and he won't steer you wrong. I completely trusted him with my Jeep and pretty much a blank check. After all of that he sent me back a Jeep that will perform great and won't let me down and I know that everything was done right.

If Joe did say your d35 will be ok then I'm confident that he knows the answer. You can only believe so much of what you read on the internet.

Oh yeah, before I forget, you're gonna pretzel that tie rod with 35's.

I was like this at first but now I'm about it all...

I'll talk to Joe some more, and see what he says. I told him to look at my videos to get an idea of what I do, so he'll be able to give me the best advise possible. In the mean time, I'm still leaning towards the 33s again.

You didn't take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for your Jeep did you? Joe said some ppl do that.

Stick with Joe. I'm so far from what his knowledge is it isn't even funny. As a matter of fact I can't believe you've listened to me for this long. (just kidding)

No I didn't take out a second mortgage but I could see how some people could. I just have a really good job (day) and I pimp a little on the side (at night).

In my opinion it will look silly. If you net 5.5" of lift you can run upwards of 37s with no problems. I've always like the look of the biggest tire possible on the shortest amount of lift.

The other way just looks funny to me.

Here is some advice that someone gave me.
"Wheel your Jeep stock and find out what it can and cannot do, then talk with other folks that have different kinds of set ups from Stock to extreme. Then set yourself a budget, 5K, 10K, etc. and build to that budget. There will always be the bigger and better toy out on the trail, but what do you want to do with your jeep?"

I did all that, and answered that question and I have an 03 sport with a D30 front and d35 rear sitting on 33" tires with 3" suspension lift and 1 inch body lift.

My next batch of upgrades is going to be SYE / CV (I don't have vibes, but feel it best to get one) 4.10 gears, super 35 kit, and an OX locker for the front.

After that upgrade, it will be all cosmetic stuff, but i will have a very capable jeep that will handle the easy to moderate trail rides.

The key is to know your limit and stay just a bit under it and you will be fine. If you are the type of guy that goes "Balls to the Wall" on the trail, then open your check book and warm up your credit card because you will be replacing lots of stuff.

Just my .02 worth, plus maybe a little more.

just take it easy on the skinny pedal. don't dump the clutch (if its a manual) and let off when the rear end stops hopping. if you do these things, the dana 35 can last...

there was a thead up on another board and he posted some wheelin vids of his jeep on 35's with the dana 35 and he was doin some pretty big rocks/climbs.

This says it all. "I've" and "me" are personal preferences. If you are building your Jeep for Andy, then listen to him. If you are building it for YOU then listen to your feelings....

Guess that works both ways. If you build your jeep for Joe then listen to him.

In reality, Joe and I both have great round-a-bout versions of building a wrangler. In the end, it is your money and you are the one that has to live with your decisions. Regardless of who's advice you took.

i was basically in the same boat as you rip you want bigger lift and big tires but i just cant afford so i did a three inch lift with 32's sure there not huge and it doesnt flex like Mr. C but it works for now i took it out when i had bald 31 and no lift and was doin stuff i thought i couldnt. So now im just slowly gonna buy axles lift and gears and tires and all that and let it sit in my room ( and drool Possibly set the tires up and sit in between if that makes sense...) But if you know you want 35 but you need a bigger axle buy cheap 33 and take it easy and save up and buy some beefy axles and stuff you want this way your not forcing your self into it and you have more time to think of exactly what you Want. Sure you may have a big honkin jeep for a while but when you do it will be exactly how you want it.

cheap 33's

In all reality it just depends on how harsh you are on that D35 with 35's. We've wheeled with people on them and so has Andy. You tend to spot people a little differently and might pull the cable or strap a little quicker than you might with a different drive train. If you leave that axle with an open diff and just lock the front end then you probably can make it last. Lots of people do. Get the suspension you want and what you feel the people that know best tell you. Both Joe and Andy know a great deal about how to build a performing rig. Andy has built his jeep to a point where breaking things is going to happen very rarely. Joe has helped design suspension systems that are pretty much the strongest on the market.

Oh, and for the most part Andy was kidding when he told you that the 35 won't even hold up on the street. As I said before if you leave it open you greatly reduce your chances of breaking it until you can replace it.

Well I think I might be able to get an 8.8 from my father-in-law for free. If so, I'll install the brackets and adapters and use that to run the 35s right off the bat. If it falls through then I'll just have to look for one. I don't want to build UP to want I want, I want to BUILD what I want the first time. (Thanks to JOE) that is the 5.5in RK LA with 35s and with some time to save the money, and the patients, I'll be able to do just that.

I'm just giving you a hard time.

It sounds like you're really taking your time with this and thinking it through. I wish I had done whatyou're doing right now. If I had then maybe I could afford to send my kid to collage.

www.dynatrac.com check out the pro rock 60's. They are probably the most expensive axles on the planet.

Yeah but they give you a really cool sticker for the side of your Jeep. Brings the cost down considerably.
