Tell Me If The Price Is Right.

So about two weeks ago I decided that I was ready to sell my beloved TJ so that I could go and buy a new JKU. I have posted a few adds on Craigslist and Autotrader, but haven't had any real serious hits yet. I was just wanting to know if my price was just way off or if I am just getting impatient. You guys tell me. I have a 2000 Wrangler Sport with 63,XXX miles, 4 cylinder and a 5 speed manual, 3.25 inch Rough County Budget Lift, and 33x12.5xR15 Nitto Trail Grapplers. This is a two owner Jeep with the first owner only using it to tow behind their camper on vacations and the rest of the time it was sitting in a shed. It has been kept in a shed through both owners and has seen no hard offroad use. I have been using it as a daily driver for the past two years and the motor is as reliable as they come. I'll attach a few pictures so you guys can get an idea. I am asking $12,000 starting and I may be way off, but from the other jeep prices that I have seen I felt like that was a good place to start. Let me know what you think.

i think that is a great looking TJ especially the color combo.

you can get a 4-cyl engine in a Sport? I did not know that.

the mileage is very low for the age, if it is rust free I can see you getting maybe 5%above NADA/KBB, but the 4 banger is not helping the sale. If it was bone stock (no lift, stock wheels and tires, etc) maybe 10% above NADA? Good luck with the sale.

Not sure about your price but.. I am always curious about the mileage listed on the lifted vehicles with larger than stock tires that people are selling. With this being a daily driver for 2 years, and with the larger tires, how much is the mileage off? Of course, you may have a new speedo gear in there. I've just always been curious. Sorry if I derailed this thread.

I do like the color scheme... Green w Tan top!

Not sure if it helps you any, but I paid $12,000 for my 2005 RME wrangler with a Dana 44, 6cyl and 6 speed completely stock. It had 75,000 miles. I think you might be selling your jeep for a tad bit too much in my opinion. Especially for a 4cyl base model

Way overpriced - I just bought a one owner 2000 wrangler, actual sport model, w/ AC, Soundbar, new Bestop, with 140k miles for $4,400. $800 later it now has a 3" lift and 33s also. This is a 6 cylinder with no damage, and no warning lights or issues.

Edit: and a Dana 44 factory rear

The jeep has been stock up until 2000 miles ago when I put the lift and tires on at the same time, so the mileage should be fairly accurate, and in all honesty I was holding to get around $10,000 I just thought $12,000 was a good starting place, but maybe I should just be advertising the price I want and staying firm at it.

If it is in as good as condition as you describe I would say you stole it in my opinion.

Hey that's what I'm here for, I want to know if I'm way out of line or if I was sensible on my price. And congrats on that find.

I am curios about this though, may do some testing if I don't get it sold, I do know it made my speedO 8 mph on the slow side.

If you have the original parts including the original wheels/tires I'd reverse the mods just to maximize the price you could get, 4 cylinder TJ's with big tires are not highly sought after but still nice if the price is fair. Also depends what part of the country you are in, that has a large impact of going prices.

Very nice clean Jeep. I think the 4 cylinder hurts you but with gas going
up it just depends on the buyer and thier intentions for its use. When people search on the internet they usually set a top number. I would say
put it up for 9800 to stay under the 10k limit, that may get you some more lookers. They are either going to love it and have to have it or not.
Take the first guy who offers 9500 and walk.

As stated above the 4cyl is the killer on it. If it was a 6 cyl you might get 10,000 for it but with the four I'd say 7,000. I hope you get what you want and I'm not trying to be a downer but realistically that's where I'd put it. Good luck with the sale . Btw it is a nice looking jeep.

12 is too much. I paid only a little more than that for a 2005 6 cyl auto with 50k miles brand new 32" tires and in excellent condition.

I just wanted to thank you guys for all the great replies, I did some price research before I chose that price and felt good about it but you know what they say, there is a big difference between asking price and selling price and all I was seeing was asking price. Since I'm not a hurry to sell it I think I will drop my price to $10,000 and see if I can spark some interest from there. Also I did think about putting the stock tires back on but I was not sure how they would look with the lift because sadly I did not keep the stock suspension because it was so wore out.

Just thought I would give an update, reposted my ad with a price of $10,000. Within about 6 hours I had 4 calls, on the last one the guy said he would bring $9000 that afternoon, needless to say he took her home. Now the search has begun for my new JKU!
