Exclamation Temporary extra storage

I've got an upcoming trip in a week or so, and I don't want to sink the cash into a reese and cargo setup, Id rather save for a roof rack for my 99' sahara. I was wondering if anyone has ever created some temporary roof storage. And if so, how did you do it and what did it cost. Thanks!

Ive seen some custom racks but they take some time to fit just right.

I'm pinching a few pennies for a roof rack, that's in the works, I'm moreso looking to see if anyone has rigged something temporary that's still safe and may want to share their knowledge. Thanks for the replies thusfar though .
