I see you already started an intro thread so I'm moving this to the TJ forum, you should get more answers there.

Start what? Offroad mods? Restoration? Tell us more about what it is like now and what you are wanting to do with it.

Welcome to WF,
To better answer your questions we need to know where you want to go, and also will need to know where you been, so to speak.

What has been done to the TJ already, and what do you wanna do: rocks, trails, mud holes, or crawling around the mall?

to start, bust out a complete fluid change.

document what mileage you did the change at

Radiator, Oil, Front diff, Rear diff, tranny fluid.

go crazy and refill your windshield and power steering fluid.

after that take a nice drive with the radio off and "listen" for sounds clicks scrapes, anything that would indicate you're next project

Stick the top & doors in the garage, put on your biggest grin, fire up that Jeep, and have a blast!
