Reframed mine last month because resale is so high around central Kentucky I couldn't bring myself to crush it. It seems like around here even a 97 has bottomed out around $7,500 as long as it's clean and has a 4.0 in it. You may get in an SE around $5,000 but that's as cheap as they get unless you want something that is just ragged out past the point of no return.

Nobody said they hated them. Just thought they didn't look very good with no lift. As far as resale I think my Rubicon will hold its value better than a non Rubicon LJ.

I love my 05 LJ and got lucky, found it in northern IL from a dealer who had it on the lot for a year and couldn't sell it. they put on a new soft top and hard doors and I picked it up for a good price with only 85000 on her. Now the great part, after looking at 20+ I was in the same boat here in north IN, everything is rusty. This jeep though spent its first years in HI and then TX, then the dealer bought it and it sat for a year. Not a spot of rust anywhere but I am still going drill a few pilot holes in her.

Yep no rust out here compared to where I grew up in Michigan. I have never seen a Jeep fall under $5000 here and those are ones in really bad shape.

I doubt that TJ's will hold their value much better than the YJs did (until the TJ was released). I can see TJs bottoming out around 4k

It will be interesting to see on the prices, but due to the limited run of LJs, I think otherwise but likely to be close in price. I think the LJ will fair a bit better. Only time will tell

TJ prices are rising here in SW Mo, NW Ark, NW OKLA, and NW KS. Clean with somewhat low miles that is. YJ's are holding in the $6-9000 range if they are fairly stock and not trashed.
I rarely see JK's on the trails or OR Parks, and very rarely LJ's. There is a growing group of highly modified offroad vehicle drivers. High lifted, rear steer rigs that are very impressive in what they do.
We also have a large group of the side-by-side Razor? type rigs. Quite expensive and very trail capable because of their small footprint.
Two years ago I looked for an 06' Rubi for 14 months. I found one near Tulsa which is over 100 miles away. I still feel lucky I found it. Prices and availabilty are worse now. As I said, TJ prices are rising not dropping, around here anyway.

Jeep only made the Rubicon 1 year longer than the LJ. So there are not a bunch of those running around either. As of now the Rubicon is worth more than a non Rubicon LJ on Kelly blue book

There weren't any Rubis for sale in N Tx when I was looking and LJs were just as rare, except an Audi dealer took the one I bought in trade. Since the price of a similarly optioned JK was outta site. Also, there are those that want the inline 6 over the V6. As I said before, time will tell.

Just checked KBB using my year model, my options, my mileage, my zip code, and only changed the model from LJ to Rubi. The LJ was worth over $1000 more. Guess it depends on where you live and some other factors.

Hmmm. Well I have plugged in several different zip codes from Texas to New York. It still shows the Rubicon worth more.

Did you add any options? Could be that. I only changed the tranny from manual to auto. Then chose a rubi. Then chose an LJ. No other changes.

I didn't change a thing besides going from Rubicon to LJ. I would think that would be the only way to do it.

The value on both will go down a lot before they ever go back up. I will have gone through several toys by then.
