OKAY so i was in my jeep with the top down and i was going about say 45 to 50 and all of a sudden my jeep starts shaking and going out of control! i was freaking out. the whole end was bouncing back and fourth and my brother said i was lucky it didnt flip on me, well anyway. when it stared happening it was shaking big time and so i pulled over on the side of rode(lucky there was a side) and it stopped bouncing. so i started going and it wasn't happening. i went straight home. and when i got home i pulled up in garage and looked at the front right wheel and sure enough the tire was smoking. the brake caliper got stuck and locked up while driving. that freaked me out! thank god i didnt flip or nothing worse happened. god bless all!

Glad you didn't wreck! I've had at least 7 calipers lock up on me in as many as 4 different Jeeps but I never experienced what you did, usually it will just pull really hard to the side that is locked under braking when it's a front caliper. In fact, my right rear locked up on my LJ 2 weeks ago and I didn't know it until I got home and smelled it. I ordered both the left and right from RockAuto, $140 for both with pads, $120 minus the core charge but you have to ship them back so I figured the shipping charges wouldn't be worth the time. Advance auto wanted close to $400 for the same thing! I would suggest you change both fronts instead of just the one, chances are the other might lock up also... I let my ZJ sit for 5 years, got it back on the road and had 3 calipers lock up within 100 miles, days apart from each other so that taught me a lesson to change both whether it be the front or rear.
