The cost difference between the M8000 and the new VR8000 is only 60 Bucks if it were a couple hundred then maybe... Plus things like Winches I have a lifeboat take on it. Would you trust your life or your families life to a $200 lifeboat instead of saving a little longer for the $1,000 one. Would suck to be on a trail winching out of a hole and it not work but hey we saved $60. Just my .02 cents.

$60, plus an $80 rebate thru July. Makes it very tempting.:whistling:

I have to agree with the "lifeboat" mentality, though. I don't even buy cheap jeans, why would I buy a cheap winch??
BUT, a cheap winch has a better chance of working than NO winch. Some people (myself included) just can't justify spending $600+ for a "uber" winch.

From what the warn facebook link says all warn winches are made that way, componets from other countries and assembled in the usa, if thats true why not save a few bucks and get the cheaper one?IDK lol

I had a $1600 Warn M12000 and the motor was stamped "Made in Brazil". I would still choose Warn over any other but I'm sick of hearing this made in America crap when it isn't true. I thought it was sort of funny for a few of their employee's to jump in and also got a few nasty emails. LOL

i asked one of the guys from northridge 4x4 about them and he said they started making them to try and compete with the chinese winches. i told him that they were already competing with the chinese winches and were winning, and that ive never heard anything bad about warn.
