These may be some stupid questions but...

I'm the first to admit that I'm new at wheeling and owning a Jeep in general so bare with me here, these questions might be a bit elementary.

1. Where is the best place on a TJ to use a high lift jack on. The bumpers?

2. I'm told there are drain plugs in the bottom of all Jeeps to drain the tubs. Where are they and how are they accessed?

3. How waterproof is the interior of a Jeep? If I take the top off and out of no where a major storm rolls through, is there any cause for concern with the electronics in the Jeep and any of the interior?

Thats all I got for now, but I'm sure all come up with more soon enough.

There are no stupid questions. We are here to help. So I'll try to explain some for you.

1. The bumpers will support a high lift jack. There are some rockers on the market that will allow the side of the jeep to be used as a jacking point also just make sure they are strong enough.

On another note, the high lift is very dangerous to use if all safety precautions are not used. It should only be used as a last resort. A lot of members here have never used one and don't even carry on in there rig.

2. All of the drain plugs are underneath the carpet. Just lift the carpet up, they will be little black rubber plugs. There should be one in each footwell and a few in the back.

3. A jeep is not completely water proof. I have been stuck in a torrential downpour and after my air bag light stayed on for a week, but luckily went out again. The electronics can be affected, and the seats and carpet can mold and smell if not dried out. You can look at buying an emergency top at or any other vendors site. I believe they are about 70$ and are meant to protect from most water when a major storm comes through.

Hope this helps. Happy Jeeping.

No more jeep for now
But I have free kandy and kittens in the back of my van

1. I use my HI-Lift regulary and sometimes works better then the average floor jack. Especially trying to find a floor jack to use with a lifted Jeep, most floor jacks only have a lift height of 15-18". Which can sometimes make hard to compress suspension and get the axles high enough in the air. I typically place my HI-Lift out near the plastic bumperette that are near the frame.

2. Ther are 2 drain plugs up front & 2 behind the front seats. You should be able to push or pull them out, if not use a pair of pliers or socket extension helps too.
