Things that we are proud of

Has anybody on here done something clever to their Jeep that they really want to share?

Running a CB Radio through factory speaker?
Winch Control to a rocker panel on the dash?
On board air compressor (I saw this one on here)?
Anything homemade?
Pressurized Water that sprays down on your tires to clear the mud/clay?
Top mounted grenade launcher (controls from the drivers seat, of course)

One of the neat things I did was when I put my JVC head unit in with the USB port I ran the cable into and through the back of one of the blank switches.

A launch tube and some homemade grenades really would not be that hard to come by. Combined them with some fancy (Wii controller mounted to a helmet) or not so fancy (joystick) controls would complete the project.

But I digress,

I am thinking about using an FM modulator to wire a CB right into the factory speakers as many people do with their Ipods - no external speaker ziptied to the roll bar. Just hide the CB behind the glovebox and it would look completely stock, minus the transmitter mounted near the center console.

Doesn't that disable the radio? I'm not sayin' it's wrong, I just don't get why you would do that.

Plug it in-line with your antennae input on the back of your radio. Tune to 87.9 or 88.3 and listen in. It is not a transmitter, so the sound will be loads better. It physically takes over the station.

Scosche FM-MOD01 Modulator Play your iPod, satellite radio tuner, or other portable music player through any FM car stereo at Crutchfield.com

How about steps that automatically slide out for a really jacked up rig?

If you have an after market head unit you do not need to mess with an FM modulator. Most newer radios come out with an auxiliary input.

I mounted my highlift to the rollbars in the back using some metal fence post straps. It was from a write up someone posted here. It's great and cost me $4.

TJ1230 wanted some info on the home made higlift mount, so here are pics and directions. I stole this idea and get no credit for it, but it works great. Take off the highlift base and throw it in your tool bag. Get two chainlink fence straps, 2 bolts and about 8 washers (all fence post hardware). Put the straps around the bottom of your roll cage in the back. Put the bolts through a highlift hole at the right spot for it to line up with the staps and use washers for adjustment. The pictures will give you the idea. it cost about $4

When Im done with my steering I will throw some pics up. Im using sleeves to make my stock D30 knuckles knucle over and using a tie rod from a Grand Cherokee with a V8 because it bolts right up but is 38% thicker/larger.

I liked the HighLift handle steering And it even matched your paint code on your tailgate.

I almost paid $100 bucks for an under hood mounted storgae box but instead bolted a free ammo box under there. Works great for tools and tow rope.....um....That's all I got....

i disabled the interior lock/unlock switch on my half doors so if i lock them with my key you cant reach your arm in there to unlock and makes it a real hassle to steal the half doors.

my only two clever things i can think of are that i double triangulated my suspension front and rear so voila, no track bars to limit flex........also i built my onboard air using my a/c compressor and some hardware store parts

Can you elaborate or show a pic of the double triangulation?

Here's just a few things I've done - moved the rubi axle compressors up out of harm's way.

on board air - a stock type Mitsubishi compressor mounted high. The original air conditioner compressor is still there and functioning - other side.

Behind and below the compressor is a tractor battery so I can have 24 volts for the welder.
Next to that extra battery is the master panic switch, shutting all power off.

the solenoids are for the winch - out of harm's way.

Starting from the front - full steering box skid plate - aftermarkets leave part of the box exposed.

Lower control arm skid plate - they protect the LCA from bending and breaking - 2 parts to it - the replaceable outer skid plate that takes the beating is bolted to the inner stiffener mount.

It ties the 2 ears together make the entire assembly strong.

So far I've sold about 50 sets to friends. I've sold quite a few on E-Bay too. I'm supposed to be retired!

Use this for ideas - I sold a few but they are too much trouble to produce.
I don't like the aftermarket engine skid plates that attach to the pan or the engine mounts. Some even glue on! How stupid!

Mine uses a new 2x1/2 crossmember that bolts to the frame each side.
The rear bolts to the belly pan - giving full coverage!
The entire thing, including the cross member, can be removed for easy access to anything.

Impact energy is transferred directly to the frame, not to vital parts.

IT IS STRONG!!!!!

Sure would be nice if someone produced them.
