As long as everything checks out mechanically on it I'd say that's a great price. It's an '04 so it's got the updated tranny in it with an OD gear. And it's completely stock. Those are getting to be a rare sight as the TJ/LJ era gets to be an "older" style wrangler. If you're really looking at getting one and have a family, I'd say that LJ has your name all over it. Looks like the top may be due for a replacement in the next few years but that's no biggie. And I'm on my iBrick so the pictures weren't fantastic so I might have just been seeming things. Ha
But basic things to look for is rust on the frame, weird vibrations under acceleration or turning. Those could indicate worn U-joints, not a hard fix just something to be aware of.
LJs are great! I love my 04 LJ and wouldn't want anything else. Except the rubicon version ;( . Just make sure its mechanically running. Test out the 4wd to make sure it works. Thats about all I can think of for a stocker.
I have the 04 LJ stock with a 2" body lift on 285/75/16 and am very happy with the ride. Everyone that has has looked at it has been jealous of the extra room i have. The price is about right, but do check it out and don't look back as you drive off the lot with it, if you decide to buy it.
Just got back from looking at it, unfortunately the place was closed so I couldn't take it for a test drive.
The price (asking) $10,900
The frame looked to be free of rust.
Engine looked to be fairly clean.
It has a bit of rust under the passenger side door (on the side of the body)
passenger front fender had a bit of damage and was bent and rusting.
tires tread was minimal.
carpet in the front and in the trunk area looks like bleach was spilled on it.
drive shaft was VERY rusted.
plastic windows on the soft top was opaque.
paint on the hood was cracking.
Oil looked to be leaking from behind/near the oil pan.
Also, while I was there I seen a 2008 Unlimited Rubicon (135k miles) for $18k unfortunately it was locked so I didn't look it over.
