Thinking about a stretch

I've been thinking about stretching my Jeep for some time now. I took three years of welding/fab in hs so that's not going to be the problem. I just don't know how to go about the stretch. Are there any good write ups? or suggestions from some people who have done it? I was gonna start by moving the tank and then buying sides, and kinda take it one step at a time until i had everything. Is that a good idea or should i just buy one of the packages?

I'm open for all suggestions and of yall know of any good write ups let me know please.

Actually in the process of doing mine right now.

Just a few things to consider:
- gas tank: switch to a comp GenRight or use fuel cell in place of rear seat?
- evap canister: for '03+ TJ's, gotta relocate it
- going to cut the rear corners? (comp cut mine)
- 3 or 4 link the rear? Click Here helps a lot getting best angles and whatnot
- gonna have to rework the exhaust system to clear the stretch
- new rear driveshaft
- heims or johnny joints?
- use shocks & coils, relocate leaf springs, or move to coil overs?
- do it yourself or hire it out?
- TIME...don't expect to finish it in a weekend (or two, or five...)
- etc
- etc
- etc

I'm sure for the more experienced professionals it isn't that big of a deal, but for the novice weekend-warrior type (like me) it is a huge undertaking...

Good Luck

I have a 1997 TJ i bet that would help. But do yall think i could do it like one step at a time. Like tank, then fenders, etc. I have a back up vehicle and i'm not gonna rush through it.

If you've got the back-up vehicle I would say to take your time and do it a piece at a time... that is if you can stand not wheeling for that long! I know when I did my first engine swap I was chomping at the bit and that only took 3 days!

I saw a 4 door TJ last week. I had to look 3 times before I realized what I was looking at. The 4th time I looked, it looked stupid. Good luck with all of that.

In particular, it gives you a better wheel base when out there crawling...
