Tool my carpet out, herculined it with two coats and it seems to be quieter than before... And the sticker that says "hot" .. Well the herculiner doesn't allow the heat the transfer through...kinda like a truck bed sitting out in the sub all day. They don't really get too hot, and i'm down here in blazing sun Louisiana. I love taking my carpet out , it's practically brand new ; I love the black lined look with floormats and it seems quieter than with carpet; If you need some new carpet shoot me a pm n we can work something out (trade?) , it's from a 2004 with 40k miles

I think my jeep must've lost 50 lbs just by ditching the carpet. much easier to sweep clean with it torn out. But I do admit it looked nicer with it in and insulated better and kept things quieter than having spare parts and tools clanging against the bare sheetmetal. I may get some black carpet to put in later. When I had my YJ I think it cost $60-$80 for replacement carpet. That was from Steelhorse I think. Was easy to reinstall.

I live in WA and have taken my carpet out and don't regret it at all. I took a weekend and went wild and stripped the interior and taped things I didn't want lined and roughed up the tub with a little sand paper and herculined the interior. I put the rubber mats when I know things are gonna get dirty. If you want quiet, be sure you've got full doors and a hard top and street tires, otherwise what's the point? I've got a soft top, 37" Krawlers and half doors - it's not a commuter car so I don't worry about any extra noise.
