I am thinking of buying this TJ! What do y'all think about it? And is the cost about right?

I would ask to see title up front, it already has a temp tag on it, unless that is a dealer tag, but why at his house then? I would just be kinda careful about that.

hard to say.....it's in the ballpark...but w/o a detailed inspection and test drive you can't be sure. if it was close by, i'd go look at it. it's been modified (lifted) so watch out.

if this is the 1st TJ you have considered then I would advise look at it, then plenty more, before you decide. good luck.

Non-matching spare and rim? Skeptical over here.

Looks like they stuck the factory tires back on. Nice spare though!

The guy took the wheels off and swithed them with the new jeep he bought. (my guess). If you like it get it. Seems resonable price. Look for rust. Looks like a nice concrete cowboy.

Has Jk rims, so the spare is not going to fit if you get a flat.. with out some extra work.. also has a jk front bumper on it... most important part would be which rear axle it has.. dana 35 or dana 44.

I don't think it's a body lift (doesn't look like it from the back view). Probably either a suspension or a 3" spring spacer. It's hard to tell, but in the side view it looks like it could have a dropped transfer case skid.

Ask what lift is on it, if it has an SYE installed, and what difs it has.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a mixed up mess. Bumpers, tires, spare and rims... Did they put this jeep thru a blender with this that and everything else?(prolly why the seller only mentions little to no details). Let someone else bother with this and find something else OP...

It's an '04 Wrangler X. That means it has a D35 rear and 3.07 gears, unless someone swapped out the rear already and had it re-geared.

Several X models had the d44 option. It's also usually accompanied with painted flares too, so unlikely on this one. But there's plenty of mismatched parts on this Jeep, so hard to say without looking underneath.

I know that certain special edition wranglers were considered part of the X series, and in those the d44 option was available. But the ad seems to be for a plain wrangler x, in which case there was no d44 option, at least that was my understanding. I've been wrong before though.

You're absolutely right though, the only way to know for sure is to crawl under it, since this seems to be a franken-jeep.

Check out page 16/17 regarding the X model in this builder's guide. Denotes the d44 option was only available for special edition models.

Yep I gotcha, I just wanted to point out that just because there's an "X" on the side doesn't necessarily mean d35. I don't think I've ever seen another vehicle type with so many trim levels for one model. It can get confusing for someone that may not know what to look for exactly.
