Thought I killed my jeep...

So my roommate and I were out the other night (me in my 98 and he in his 99) and we came to a water crossing that we have hit many times before. He went though no problem. About 3/4 of the way through, I stalled out and died. I first thought it was hydro-lock and my Jeep was toast, but after closer inspection I think it was water in the distributor. We towed it out and I popped the air filter (stock) and it was dry. I waited and waited and finally it turned over. It was running very poorly for a bid, misfiring and what not- I attribute that to not all the plugs firing... eventually it all started running smoothly. I'm sure many of you have experienced this... any way to prevent it??

Have WD-40 on hand--condensation from wet electrical parts could cause it to start running funky again.

You can seal the cap and extend the vent on the cap if you want to.
