Thoughts on 2 inch spacer lifts...

hi all,

im just wondering what anyone thinks about the 2 inch poly spacer lifts from skyjacker, rough country, etc. i was thinking about getting one with new shocks. how do they ride? handle? would you recommend it? thanks in advance

Its what I have on mine with 31's love it. I drive my jeep every , I'm from pa and drive it a1000 miles straight sometime ride is still good

Do it . It's easy . It gives the Jeep some attitude. Just remember to check your alignment after your done.

i ran 2 inch spacers front and rear for quite some time and i was happy with it. but recently i ditched the front spacers and got a pair of stock v8 grand Cherokee front springs, which give a 2 in lift to TJ's. so, the lift height didn't change, but with the v8 Cherokee springs, i flex a lot better.

so, i recommend getting the v8 springs up front and spacers in the back. it's a good, cheap way to get a 2 inch lift. v8 spring are like 10 bucks from the junkyard by the way.

sigh, If only I could find Cherokee in the junkyard with 4 inch lift front springs, then I could ditch the massive hockey pucks the PO put on my Jeep. lol

I run a 2" spacer lift on stock shocks with 31's
With no swaybar I can full flex with about 1/2" to spare
No rubbing,no change from factory ride quality

About $80,2 hours of work then an alignment

I have that setup and love it I also went to the SYE and a woods driveshaft on 31s. Then went with flat flares that gave me more room.

2" BB on 31's was the first lift I put on my Jeep... it served me well. I even ran stock shocks with NO issues.....and disconnects helped tremendously on the trails. I even did the Rubicon with this very setup....

Get the Skyjacker 2" with their hydro shocks, add a 1.25" body lift and try some 33" tires. Or don't.

I've got 2" coil spacers I just took off my jeep when I put my 4" lift on. In great shape. Rubicon express brand. Ill let them go for 100 obo + shipping. Not trying to jack the thread just thought I would try and help out the OP.

Well idk how much they go for. That's why it's obo. Lol. I just figured 100 was a good starting point and go from there. From what I've seen. The bb with shocks are 200+. And the shocks aren't that expensive. I just don't need them so I figured why not put them on here.

I also have been looking at rough country 2" BB lift ($110 or 1.5" lift with shocks for $200) and 1.25" ($90) body lift but then i started looking their 2.5" suspension lift with new springs and shocks for $300. Would new springs ride/flex/handle better than old springs (97) and spacers? I would think so. So for $100 bucks more I was going to get the 2.5" susp kit but then I see they are selling a combo kit w/ the 2.5" susp kit and 1.25" body lift for $390. Talk about product creep. Started researching BB lifts and i am going to end up spending $400. Are my assumptions that new coil springs would be better than just spacers? Is rough country any good? If I do a 2.5" susp lift and 1.25' body lift do i have to change brake lines or tranny linkage? Will I then need to put MMR and transfer case spacers in also? Maybe I should start my own post but I am torn between $100 spacers or $400 lift but with unknown issues. 97 stock SE wranglers.

Well I've heard the rough country springs tend to sag very quickly. So at first they would probably be better, but who knows after they start to wear out and sag. I've been looking at a few of their BB as well, although I'd be a little hesitant to buy a new set of coils from them.

thanks for the heads up on their coil springs sagging. Too bad they were the only ones in the price range I could justify. I guess it is back to BB and 1.25 BL. thanks

No problem. Yea they're just so cheap though, but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk of sagging. I have a friend whose JK has a 4 in Rough Country lift and it hasn't sagged at all, but then you have people like invert chaos. He had a Rough Country lift and it sagged on him. So which BB were you looking at? I started just looking for a leveling kit, then I started looking for a BB that would also level it out. Rough Country has one I like, but it includes rear shock relocation brackets. I'm not sure how badly they're needed, or how well they would hold up. Also looked at some terraflex and skyjacker 2 in. BB. Can't decide which one I want though.

I am looking at the same ones. I want one that is complete. If I went susp lift I do have some advantages. My jeep is a 4 banger so motor is light and I will not be mounting a heavy bumpers or other heavy objects cuz I want it to still be able to merge without terror.

Either brand should be the same.

Upgrade shocks if you plan on wheeling. I'm running 2" BB and it works fine. I will upgrade to coils at some point, the BB was installed by the previous owner.

If I end up with a suspension lift, I think I would go with skyjacker or terraflex (I'd love an OME kit, but let's be real here, how would I afford that?) but I doubt Rough Country can mess up a spacer, so I'll either get the Rough Country leveling kit, maybe the 2 in Rough Country safer lift (if I can find anything on those darn shock relocation brackets). Terraflex and skyjacker are still an option, but I don't think those level the jeep out any (which I am really hoping to do).
