throttle body spacers?

anyone had experiance with throttle body spacers? I'm thinking about putting one in. I already have the K&N intake I've heard that that has alot to do with the performance of the spacer.

now I don't know anything about these, I want to know if they make that big of a difference, what is the difference between the different sizes (62mm-1"), and brands (air raid, L&B racing, etc.), as well as the difference between the helix and regular.

Thanks for your imput.

I have one (poweraid) I personally don't feel it was worth the money. It helped a little with power and seemed to be more responsive. The MPG only increased about 2 MPG.

Throttle body swap

ok so on one of my other threads that I posted about re-chipping someone mentioned swapping out my 2.5L throttle body for the 4.0L throttle body. what has to be done for this? how much work does it take? is it just straight bolt on? can I just go to a U-pull-it place and pick one up to put in or does it need to be factory ordered. any suggestions?

This I can't help with, I have never owned or done any mods to a 2.5. I have heard it is a direct bolt up mod. But I would wait for someone with experience to give you a definite answer.

I had the 4 cylinder in my jeep. I replaced the throttle body with a 4.0 throttle body and a spacer. It didn't take me long to ditch the spacer and just run the throttle body. If I hadn't received the 2 for next to nothing I wouldn't have done it and after running it for awhile I did notice some difference with the 4.0 throttle body but the spacer was a waste.

I still have both if you would like to buy them.

I'll agree with Jp magazine on what one of their articles said about installing a 4.0L TB onto a 2.5L engine... nothing noticeable.

So far as TB spacers, I strongly believe they don't do squat for the type of engine our TJs have. Spacers do wonders under carburetors and even under throttle-body injection systems but the TJ's TB passes only air, no air-fuel mixture. I was given one to try and noticed nothing at all, I later removed it because it whistled and noticed no change then either. I think some who do claim improvements with TB spacers on their TJs must just be at least somewhat susceptible to the placebo effect.

How much you willing to part with the TB for? I just checked around here in oregon and found one for $30 from a guy I've been doing business with quite a bit.

as far as the TB spacer goes, I might just 86 it however what I've heard is that it doesn't add power, but throttle response. maybe it is just the placebo effect thing but I guess I won't know until I spend the money to do it huh, and there is always going to be someone who wants to buy it.

I won't be able to do all of this till the end of the week when I get paid. I just bought a new top for the TJ. but how bout you let me know what you think is fair and I will let you know if I want do it or not. I feel weird just paying you what I think is fair cause I don't really know about what condition either is in and what price you think is fair. I would rather you give me a price and neg. from there.

Alright. How about 1 million dollars??

I just got out to the shop so I will pull the spacer and TB and snap some pics so you can see the condition of everything. I wouldn't sell it if I wouldn't put it on my jeep.

blackmarket. Hey anyone up for silverback ribs dressed with stuffed elephant ivory tusk with cheetah dressing? lol.

well just let me know what you would want to get out of them.
I wouldn't think that another jeeper would sell something bad to another one. why are you getting rid of these again, did you just upgrade?

I upgraded a little bit.

Here is a picture. I also have a 4.0 intake tube with air box if you are interested. You will have to use your existing sensors.

well let me know what you think a fair price is for the two. I found the TB for $30 locally and new spacer for $30 as well.
