Thud when turning

I have been noticing a pretty loud thud or however you wanna say it when I'm turning right. When going 20mph or faster. Only when turning right and it is definatley coming from the front. Sounds like maybe middle or passenger side. Any ideas to check before I spend money on it somewhere. I'm new to working on vehicles myself.

98 TJ 4.0 5 speed.

I'm not sure. I've never done any work in suspension or anything of that sort. So I wouldn't know where to start besides getting down there and tryin to wiggle things with my hands.

I had exactly the same problem and it was a loose body mount bolt.

Same exact thing happening here. happens especially when turing right over like a small ditch or curb or whatever it might be, anything that tips the body when turning right. Im going to have it checked when i have my oil change, Ill let you know what I find out.

do you have stock swaybar links? i had the same thing happen to my 00 sport a couple of years ago. turned out to be the stock link that had come out of the collar. or it could be a loose track bar. have a buddy look under the front while you turn the wheel left and right. good luck

I believe dougb1962 has it right. The axle ujoints probably need replacing. Get Spicer 760x, I believe.

Thanks everyone for the input. I don't know much about any of the suspension or body mount bolts etc. With the rubber bushings it's hard to see if it's loose. I did jack up the front right tire about an hour ago and I started feeling around the shocks to make sure things were loose. And then I grabbed a bar in the front of everything( like I said I don't know names of things so it's the bar for now) closest to the bumper that connects to the axle and started pulling and shaking to see if I heard any sounds and I heard a small click but not the thump like I'm driving. What is a u-joint and how can I check to see if it's bad? Sorry for the lack of knowledge. I'm sure it annoys some people. But this is the first vehicle I've had that has needed work besides brakes and basic fluid and plug changes. Guess that's what happens when you get out of payments and pay cash for a ride.

I had that problem and my track bar was loose (at the part where it attaches to the axle). It's like a T40 torx bolt.
