Thumbs up or down?

OK, I am ready to move. What do you think about this?

98 JEEP WRANGLER

I might be able to get it for $5K. My only qualm is the 4cylinder engine. The other thing is that he has been trying to sell it for over a month. Why hasn't it sold I wonder? There is a 2000 with a 6 and auto for $5800 but I didn't get good vibes talking the owner. Actually, the son owns it and his dad answered the phone. For those in the know it is in Northeast Philly which I rather not venture out.

if your hesitant on going with a 4cyl... I would wait.

It looks nice though. I would get one with a hard top and wheels you want. Even if you don't want the hard top particularly, they are expensive if you decide to get one later on. If you have snow at all... hardtops the way to go.

The Jeep would be a recreational vehicle for me for driving to work or around town. Won't be asking much of it as long as it is not seriously underpowered. I have a V8 in my truck for serious business. I'll get to drive it tomorrow so I will have a feel for it. Other than that...?

If your not going to go all crazytrail on it and the 4 bangers enough then I vote go for it.
The little 4 banger 5 speeds a lot of fun, betterish on gas, and has the 4.11 gear ratio which is nice.

It looks like it has all the desirables, hard top, full doors, tow bumper, rear window wiper, possibly defrost?
that kind of stuff is good and expensive to try and get later on.

Probably because it's the 4 cylinder.

It's really easy at first to say "yeah, I can deal with it, I don't need the extra power" but that soon wears off, or at least it did for me. I couldn't take it after about two years, and I finally upgraded to the 4.0 when the opportunity arose.

If I was you, I'd test drive the 4 banger and then think long and hard about it just to make sure you will be satisfied. The 4 banger's can be great little rigs, but they are very underpowered. Just don't jump in before thinking everything through. Good luck!
