Time For Lift, Need Advice

Hey Guys, i'm looking to do a small lift probably about 2'' on my TJ. I am running a 2000 Sport SE 2.5L Manual 5 Speed. I wanted your guys opinions on which lift to use and which tires to run. i'm currently running 30x10.5x15 BFG ATA's right now on a stock height jeep. I really don't want to lose much top end power so what do you guys think? Thanks.

If you don't want to lose any power don't put on any bigger tires.

I have a 1998 SE 2.5 and would like to get a lift as well...don't care too much about losin power just want a better look...I was thinking 3"? Just want a body lift not a suspension change...how much $$$ would that be???

I love my OME lift. I'd recommend it to anyone. I used the "Ultimate" kit which you can see here.

The most body lift that is really recommended is 1.25" If you put a 3" body lift on your rig you're going to have a lot of issues.

I have heard a lot of great things about the OME lifts. I think i'm going to go that route. This may be a really stupid question but the power loss comes with bigger tires right? Not with the lift. If I lift the vehicle and only go up to a 31'' tire I shouldn't see much of a change should I? Thanks guys.

Go 2"s with OME or the procomp 2" (but upgrade to the MX6 shocks) and put some 32s in there. U will be much happier. I'm runnin that with 3.07 gears and really didnt lose much power for daily driving. I am regearing to 3.73 or 4.10 though since I will be hittin the trails soon. Look and see what gears u have and what rear axle. If u r lucky and allready have 3.73s then 32s will be great. Pro comp and bfg have 32x11.5" A/Ts.

Check out this lift kits over at Rusty's Offroad that includes rims 35's Mickey Thompson and a 3.25 lift for under $2000.

I think 35s would be a little much for a 4 banger
I'm pretty sure all the 4cylinder jeeps came standard with 4.10 gears. I could be mistaken though. 2-3" OME lift and 32" tires sounds reasonable. Any have this set up that wouldn't mind posting a picture?

the only thing i see on there thats not 4500$ is for a jk or xj

Running 31's on my 97 4 banger, 5 spd. When driving on the highway at 65mph headed towards an uphill, a long and progresssive one, my speed when I get to the top will be at 50mph in 5th gear. If you want 31's or 32's you need to come to grips with the fact that you are always going to be in the right lane when driving, and that fully loaded trucks will pass you off the line. I'm very happy with my set up, but then again, I drive a patrol car, so I get all the speed that I need!
