Went out on a night trail ride with the local jeep club down here in the FL panhandle. Extra lights sure would have been helpful! Most guys' jeeps that night were brighter than the sun with all the lights they had!
I have a 21 inch mounted on my bumper and 2 of the 4 inch led pods mounted on my windshield ( all bought from amazon for under 200 bucks ) i run them on back roads and turn them off when passing others, also come in handy in the woods or trails. My cheap leds have been sunk in water, covered in snow, and put to the test. Havent failed me yet, compared to my buddys ridgid lights there is a slight difference. But not a 400 dollar difference.
I've only used my offroad lights to set up our camping gear when we go to the offroad park. We get there late and it's very dark. They don't let us run on the trails when it's dark.
Mine get used for countless hours scouting for hunts and of course some night wheelin.
The cheap amazon 50" ($112) bars and pods ($63 4 pack) have worked great on my lj and the wife's jk.

Towed a friend w/ a dead alternator a couple miles off the mountain. Used the rear lights mounted in the JCR bumper to help him judge line slack and how far from my bumper he was.
Don't know if it help or hurt. Certailnly killed his night vision starring into those lights for over an hour.
I was stuck at night in and behind snow piles and the only way the truck coming to pull us out could find us was seeing the bright glow coming from behind the large piles. He was over 100 yards away and it would have taken a lot longer for him to notice us otherwise
I actually use these almost every night as the factory reverse lights suck, their hooked to a switch inside the cab. then these I use pretty much whenever no ones on the road at night to help light up the road since my factory headlights suck. especially on back roads or dimly lit areas
and of course scouting for hunts and night ridin in the bonnet carre spillway
Anytime on a back road with no oncoming traffic, in the snow when no one is out, anytime it gets dark and I'm on the trails. Which around this time of year it gets dark at 6:00
since this is a led light thread I'll mention it. I found this small local company out here in Louisiana and decided to give them a shot. man was i glad I did. his leds kicked the other ones I had butt, now of course I had some 7" 42 watt Amazon leds that were pretty bright. his 4.3" ones I have shine prolly 1.5 times the distant and are twice as bright as those 7" ones I got off of amazon. now of course I got them in when it was raining yesterday so I could only test them out and couldn't mount them yet. yall be sure to go check out his website and his products. http://www.genlights.com/default.asp
I have used my 52 inch LED light bar in Moab, Rubicon and Pismo dunes many times!
