Tinted Windshield

Has anyone here tinted there front windshield? I was thinking about doing this and was wondering what the pros/cons were! Any input would be appreciated.

In many states that would be illegal. Better check with your local DOT

I haven't memorized all the laws in each of the 50 states, but I'll bet you'd be hard-pressed to find even one that would allow a fully tinted windshield...

I know my buddy's '97 TJ had a tinted windshield when he got it in Florida, and he was pulled over less than an hour of having it in his name. Cop was cool and let him off with a warning since he had proof that he'd just bought it that day. That same cop came to his house a week later to see if he'd removed it. We lived on a small island (Key Largo), and you couldn't get away with ANYTHING....

if your going to tint the front windshield just do a 50 percent.. its a slight tint but gives great uv protection and it helps with high beams and sun glares... its also not safe to tint the front dark..

I tinted a quarter of the total windshield. Works great, keeps the sun out my eyes. In my opinion, you really don't need the whole thing tinted.

I've tinted the top 4 inches limo before which was fantastic for the sunset hours. I had a friend that did the entire windshield in 35% with the silver tone, not the black. From the outside, it just looks dark inside the car, and you can't really tell that it's not just clear glass. He did have limo on all of the other glass though, so that probably helped out. Good luck.

I sure wouldn't tint my front windshield darker, it's hard enough to see on dark roads at night without making it any tougher. If it's too bright for you during the daytime, put your sunglasses on.

Well im here in south forida. My dad's brand new saturn came with the tint on the front windshield. Dealer installed! It's the lightest-suppose to stop the U.V's from entering the cabin area. It's not against the law for that particular shade, BUT you can't go any Darker. Who would want to anyway's? I have limo tint on my doors and the back is the dark tint. At night It's VERY DIFFICULT to see. You have to be really carefull. I can understand about the U.V.'s though.

I'm not positive, but I would think that you could possibly get horrible glare if you tint the windshield and had your top off. The light above and behind you might reflect off the windshield, and make it hard to see.

I get really bad glare just from my side windows being tinted.
(of course they're limo)
But I still think the same principle would apply.

My suggestion is to buy some nice polarized shades.

Good luck.

I agree, it's easier and cheaper to tint your eyes (shades) than it is to tint your windshield and take a chance on having to pay for any tickets you might get.

Front windshield tint is not legal in FL Florida Window Tint Law - TintCenter.com http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/S...%207-19-07.xls The AS1 line is marked on some windishields and is a referance to an eye line of sight.

With that said, I purchaed my Jeep off of the internet and it came out of FL. It had tint on the windshield which I did not notice until I tried to get it inspected in NJ and they pointed it out.

Here in ND you can tint your windshield 50%. But how the hell is a cop going to get a meter over your windshield frame/rollbar where it connects? I say go for it at 50%. I had all my windows on my Ram at 5% even over the factory 20% in the back and that was dark enough for me. I'd just do that instead of the windshield, but to each their own.

Its awsome!!! No glare day or night! ONLY do the very lightest!!!!!! Should be a law to have this super light tint on every car/truck! You would never know it was tinted!!! Its a saver!!!
