tiny's soft top...

Well gang, this morning it looks as though tiny's soft top gave up the ghost. She's been having issues with the rear window ever since I have known her. It doesn't seem to want to zip at the corners. When we looked it over we found that the stitching has come out of the zipper where it attaches to the top itself.

She bought it in Feb 2006 and it has less that 40k on the clock, so I called the dealership this morning to see if it could possibly still be covered under warranty.
The guy there told me to bring it by so they can have a look to see if it can be covered.

So later today we're gonna run it over there to see what can be done. I used to work in parts and service for a Jeep dealer and still kinda know the ins and outs of warranty replacements. So, they better not give her any crap! After all I am nuts and all!

We'll keep you posted.

They replaced my old softtop doors on my YJ back when it was still under warranty for something similar. The stitching around the soft upper doors had torn. I don't think you'll have any problems.

I had a similar problem w/ mine, I just took the top and the rear window to a canvas shop that makes boat tops and had them replace the zipper w/ a heavier duty one on both sides, used the heavier marine grade stitching, I should be good from here on out. Just something to consider if they wont fix it at the stealer ship. IIRC, I'd say it was under $40, including the zipper.

Just here to help..

I took mine to a local car interior restore shop and he took the whole top off, ran a new stich on all the seams with a very heavy cord / thread, and charged me $20. I will now go to him for anything i need and I have sent some of my friends to him.

Seems Cain may have fixed it partially. Somehow, the zipper pull had been bent open so the teeth weren't meshing right. Pair of pliers and Bob's your uncle. Zipped in totally. All the teeth are together.
