Tire Advice

Hi everyone! I am in need of some tire advice for my 1998 Wrangler. I recently purchased a set of 16x10 rims for a great price. Now, I need to know - from anyone willing to share - what size tires I can place on them in order to avoid scrubbing when turning? "I've heard 31.5 but not certain) I do not want to install a lift kit at this time but will in the future. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I used to have 32" tires that rubbed just slightly on the sway bar links at full lock with a 2" spacer lift. with 16x8 wheels. I think that a lot will depend on what the backspacing of your wheels are. Mine were 4.25, but your 10's might be more.

Whatever is equivalent to a 31x10.50x15
That's about the largest are you can fit on stock not lifted wrangler

Maybe s 265/75/16

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll have to measure tonight to be sure.

I ran 215/85/16 and they rubbed when turning on my '98 Sahara. I went up to 235/85/16 and they obviously rubbed too. I'm running 16x7 rims. Although neither of those dimensions would fit well on 16x10.

Well, my thoughts are that the money you saved in buying the rims will be spent on buying 16" tires. But probably a 265 75R16 would work.

Measure your backspacing on your wheel with a tape measure. With the wheel upside down, measure from the inside where the wheel mates with the hub to the lip of the wheel. If you are less than 4 inches you won't rub with a 265/75 R16 tire. Any more than 4 inches and you'll probably be rubbing.

That is a good point. The first tires I put on mine pre lift and on stock rims were 265/70R15's...They were fine and didn't rub. After the lift I bought 16 x 8 wheels.. Dumb mistake..should've stayed with 15's. 16" tires are always more $'s.
