Tire/ Gearing Question

I have 4.56 gears in my TJ right now (6cyl/ 5 speed), running 33x12.50x15 KM2's. I'm thinking about swapping to 35's. How bad will that be with 4.56's? I assume it can't be as bad as 33's on 3.07's, right?

You will be fine. In my opinion 4.56 is a bit over the ideal range for 33's with your transmission but its the best choice because there isn't something between 4.11 and 4.56. Your RPM's might drop 200 or so for the same mph, and I assume right now you run around 2800rpm at 70mph? By going to 35's you will be just at the lower edge of your power band at highway speeds. You could plug your tire size and gearing into the online calculator to get an exact answer, but 4.56 on 35's is not bad. I run 33's on 3.73 and while it isn't ideal and one day I will regear, it is fine for my daily driver and does fine on technical trails as well.

You'll be fine...ideal would be 4.88 but i dont think it would be worth another regear for a minimal gain which you'd get from 4.56 to 4.88

I pulled the trigger on a set of 35x12.50x15 KM2's.....Discount Tire had them for $196/ tire.
