Tire question

Here's my new to me 06 Wrangler X. My wife told me that the tires are too small and that I should get bigger ones. This was great news, but I have a very limited budget. This is my daily driver that will hopefully see some off-road use. I do not want to go too extreme and I read somewhere, not on this site, that 31x10.5 15s would fit without lifting. Is this true? Will they fit on my stock 15x7 wheels? I think that the biggest tires I would go with are 32" and I believe that I need at least a 2" lift for those. Correct? Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks, Dan

1st of all.........I want your wife...........

and Yes you are right on track with all that. 31's will fit your stock wheels and stock hight. If you Wheel or other wise have situations which flex the suspension (like those Huge Speed Bumps at the Mall) they may rub the fender flares, otherwise on the street your all set.

32's your gonna want to lift it, 2" Budget Boost should do it, add a 1" Body Lift if ya want to get her off road.

(and here come MORE options and opinions!! Grab a snickers.........yer gonna be here a while)

Yes you can fit 31s on stock but u will rub off road. I have a 2 inch lift and Goodyear mtrs in the 32 11.50 15 I only rub at full flex. I still have the stock 307 gears and the edge trail jammer kit and have all the power I need, I do go through a stock clutch every 2 years but i work for Jeep so parts are cheep. I would stay with 31s until u upgrade your ring and pinon.and than after more than 2 in of lift u open a big can of worms good luck

So would the 31s with a 2" lift work for off road?

I have the 307 gears also. I hope that I do not have to replace the clutch every two years, I don't work for Jeep. If I do have to replace it that often, I will have to learn how to do it myself.

Thanks for the info.

yes your 31s will not rub at all at full flex with a 2 in lift. Even though I replace clutch every 2 years I am hard on take off. you should not need to replace clutch so often if you regear befor u go to 32. I just like the look on that honda onwers face when i blow his doors off in my Jeep.
