Tire skip

Recently when I make a left hand turn, the tire seems to skip, and the rig shudders. I took off the front axle , thinking that was it, but didn't help. I've got Detroit lockers front and back, is that the issue?

Any help greatly appreciated

Could it be the dampener I put on?

A steering damper shouldn't cause that. Does it only do it on left turns? Have you checked hub assy?

make sure your lockers are diengaging. Even if its out of 4wd, if they are locked, your tires will skip on corners. Also check your wheel hubs. Shoot, I'd jack up the front and check everything. Tie rods, ball joints, etc... And, with both front tires off the ground, when you spin 1 the other should either not move or spin in the opposite direction. If you spin one forward and the other goes forward as well, your lockers are not disengaging.

I put up the front end and they spin together, and when I talked to previous owner he said they're Detroit lockers, locked all the time, so I guess I'll have to live with it for now

Yep you will need to live with it. Detroit lockers in the front will cause that. I hope you do not live in snow and ice country or winter driving will be very....interesting.
